Venus Williams responds to the growing buzz over Serena’s Tennis return

Venus, meanwhile, is still on the WTA Tour and has competed in several events this year, including the Washington Open, Cincinnati Open, and US Open.

Speaking to Christian’s Court on X when asked about the chance of a Williams sisters reunion in 2026: “Hey, I can only speak for myself.

“All I know is that I can’t get her on the court. She doesn’t practice.” Serena stepped away from professional tennis following the US Open in 2022. In an article for Vogue at the time, she said she wanted to ‘evolve away’ from the sport.

Serena and Venus’ doubles record at Grand Slam events

The sisters won their first of 14 doubles Grand Slam titles together at the 1999 French Open. Later that same year, they went on to win the US Open, then added their first Wimbledon title as a pair in 2000, which would be the first of six championships there together.

Between 2001 and 2003, they added three more majors to their tally. However, they didn’t play another major together until Wimbledon in 2007, where they exited in the second round.

The following year, they found success again by winning Wimbledon. Then came their most productive season in 2009 when they captured three major titles.

Their final Grand Slam victory came at Wimbledon in 2016 when they defeated Timea Babos and Yaroslava Shvedova in straight sets for their sixth title at SW19.
