When tennis pros step off the court, it turns out their first conversations of the day are just as interesting as their serves, and sometimes, a little unexpected.
At the Queen's Club Championships, a cheeky social media post featuring Australian star Alex de Minaur and other top ATP Tour players has fans smiling as they reveal who they actually speak to first thing in the morning.
Jack Draper kicked things off sweetly: "It was my mum. Something I saw was my dog. It wasn't a person, but when I said hi to him, I spoke to him, obviously.".
Carlos Alcaraz alternatively admitted his first interaction as, "My friend, a friend of mine, in Murcia. I answered some he replied to some story from me on Instagram. So I just answered it.".
Alex de Minaur, however, won the crowd with what he called the correct answer: "The right answer is Katie. Always a good morning message. She’s in Nottingham, so: ‘Good morning. How did you sleep?’ That’s the right answer, right?".
Taylor Fritz kept things low-key but seemed he may have need a few more hours of sleep with how unsure he was: "Probably Morgan. Probably text her when I woke up. I don’t know. I’m not sure.".
Reilly Opelka’s morning started with his fellow American: "Denis Kudla. What did I say? ‘Do you want to get coffee?’ He said yes."
Jordan Thompson might have almost not been able to remember his response to start the day, but recalled his chat with his best mate, "We’re actually moving into a new place, so I texted him something’s on the way.".
Whilst others messaged their coach, perhaps none did so with as much comedic flair as Julian Cash, who said: "I just asked him if he’s going to make me better today. He said no, so we’ll see.".
Other ATP players including Jakub Mensik, Jaume Munar, Cameron Norrie, Jiri Lehecka, Rohan Bopanna, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, and Alexei Popyrin also joined in with a mix of sentimental, sarcastic, and coffee-fueled answers.

All of these players will be hoping their morning routines continue to bring them good energy this week at the Queen’s Club Championships, the prestigious warm-up tournament that marks the start of the grass court season.
With Wimbledon fast approaching, this stretch is where momentum is built, serves are fine-tuned, and dreams of Centre Court glory start to take shape with the third Grand Slam of the year only a few weeks away.
