Anna Kalinskaya is set to face off against Iga Swiatek tonight at the US Open but in the doubles last night alongside regular partner Sorana Cirstea, she wasn't left best pleased with a so-called lack of respect from McCartney Kessler and Peyton Stearns.
Kalinskaya partnering with Cirstea lost 7-5, 6-4 to American pair Kessler and Stearns. They blew a lead of 5-1 in the first set. Stearns later shared an Instagram post which appeared to mock Kalinskaya's error on match point.
When the American's won, Kalinskaya wasn't best pleased and waited for Stearns at the net accusing her of disrespecting her rivals. 'I expected a little respect. I haven't seen you apologize even once,' the 26-year-old said. Reposting on the story, Stearns shared a story from a friend which appeared to take a shot at Kalinskaya. Former Ohio State tennis player Danielle Wolf wrote: 'Big dub (win),' Wolf said with four American flags on the post, before taking a shot at Kalinskaya. 'We love a fh (forehand) shank on match point.'
Stearns did try at least to cover it up posting American flags over the message aimed at Kalinskaya. The Russian was previously vociferous about her next opponent in the singles tournament in Iga Swiatek after scheduling in Cincinnati.
But she has got her way this time with the match now on the night session instead of early morning which is somewhat of a shock for Swiatek who is usually on the day session. "How can the WTA and tournament expect athletes to perform their best when the scheduling is this unfair?" she said.
"After my match against Alexandrova, I got home from the site at 2:40am and didn't go to bed until 4am. I slept a bit and came to the site to practice.
"Then I get scheduled at 11am for tomorrow's match - how does the tournament and WTA expect me to recover and continuously adjust my sleep pattern, which is one of the most important aspects of recovery? Seems a bit one sided." Albeit she then also copped criticism for attending a concert after complaining about scheduling and the late nights.
Why everybody is so grumpy in the USO.

Apparently Anna K was complaining about a lack respect from the american pair?
Hopefully it ended well. pic.twitter.com/A3MaT0g9sd
