Lorenzo Musetti had a moment that skirted the possibility of disqualification during his match against Frances Tiafoe at Roland Garros. The world No. 8 was at the start of the third set, preparing to serve, when he kicked a ball that hit one of the line judges.
The Italian had just lost the second set after struggling with his first serve and committing a total of 10 unforced errors throughout the set. Musetti had had three break chances, but Tiafoe managed to hold in each instance.
Precisely at the beginning of the third set, Musetti was serving and receiving balls from the ball kids before a new service game. A ball that landed near his feet was kicked by him and accidentally struck one of the line judges, though it didn't appear to be a particularly forceful hit.
Nevertheless, the chair umpire decided to issue a warning to Musetti for unsportsmanlike conduct, a situation that could have easily resulted in a more severe penalty for the Italian.
