Wimbledon 2025 Men’s Seedings: Alcaraz and Sinner could meet in final, Djokovic and Shelton lurking

With just one week until Wimbledon begins, the latest rankings have finalized the seeding positions for the ATP Tour's biggest stars. As expected, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz lead the draw and are on opposite sides, meaning they can only meet in a potential final. Alexander Zverev and Jack Draper complete the top-4.

Players like Novak Djokovic or Lorenzo Musetti appear as potential early opponents for Sinner and Alcaraz. Withdrawals of some top-ranked players allowed others like Alex Michelsen and Matteo Berrettini to secure seeded spots at the last minute, giving them a chance to avoid higher-ranked players in the early rounds.

The Top 4: Path to the Final

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are the first two seeds, and they'll lead the top and bottom halves of the draw, respectively. They can only meet in a potential final. They're also aligned with another top-4 player for a potential semifinal. This time, those players will be Alexander Zverev (3rd) and Jack Draper (4th), who by ranking are their potential semifinal opponents.

The Brit managed to displace Taylor Fritz this week, which gives him a slightly more favorable draw and allows him to avoid the top favorites for at least one more round.

Seeds 5-8: Quarterfinal showdowns loom

The 5-8 seed positions will be held by Taylor Fritz (5th), Novak Djokovic (6th), Lorenzo Musetti (7th), and Holger Rune (8th). Each of these players will be on a collision course with one of the top-4 for a potential quarterfinal match-up. This means we could perfectly see Nole facing a Sinner or an Alcaraz in the quarterfinals, or having to overcome three top-4 players to win the title.

Based on current form, Fritz seems the least intimidating player in this ranking zone heading into Wimbledon. Meanwhile, Musetti and Djokovic will surely be names no one will want to cross, considering Musetti's strong current form—he reached the Wimbledon semifinals last year and has been in impeccable shape in recent months.

Seeds 9-16: Strong contenders and beneficiaries of withdrawals

Players seeded 9-16 will potentially cross paths with one of the top-8 in the quarterfinals. Some of the names currently playing at a high level include Daniil Medvedev (9th)—a finalist at the Halle Open this week—and Ben Shelton (No. 10).

The withdrawals of Casper Ruud and Arthur Fils allowed two players who would have been lower-ranked to enter this zone: Jakub Mensik and Francisco Cerundolo. They can breathe a sigh of relief knowing they won't face anyone higher-ranked than themselves during the first three rounds.

Seeds 17-32: Former top-10 players and last-minute seededs

Recent months have seen several movements within the top-30, and the emergence of some new names at the top forced the fall of other stellar players. Athletes like Grigor Dimitrov (21st), Stefanos Tsitsipas (26th), and Felix Auger-Aliassime (27th) are some who have consistently been Top-10 players, but who will have a slightly lower seeded position this time. Any of them could potentially face the top players as early as the third round.

On the other hand, Alexander Bublik's recent title at the Halle Open allowed him to secure a seeded position at the last minute, making him the 30th seed. Had he lost in the final, he would have been exposed to facing any opponent from the first round, someone whom top players surely wouldn't have wanted to see in their opening match. A similar situation applies to Matteo Berrettini—a finalist in 2022—who, thanks to last week's withdrawals, will be the 32nd seed.
