5 New Steam Games Just Released

Here’s a quick look at five new games that have just launched on Steam. Whether you’re into action, indie storytelling, or classic RPG vibes, this fresh batch offers something worth checking out for every type of gamer:

  1. Kiborg

  2. Despelote

  3. Moroi

  4. Gates of Skeldal (Brány Skeldalu)

  5. Dune (Awakening)

1. Kiborg

Release Date:‌ April 30
Developer:‌ Sobaka Studio

Kiborg is finally on Steam, the game throws you into a grim future where inmates aren’t allowed to die before serving out their full sentences. That’s a serious issue for the main character, who’s somehow racked up a staggering 1,300-year prison term. But there’s one way out — competing in a brutal reality TV show where survival means fighting through wave after wave of ultra-violent enemies. Make it to the top of the prison tower and you walk free.

This is a third-person beat ’em up rogue-lite with a wilfully excessive approach to violence, but if you can stomach it, there’s a lot to like here. The protagonist can be equipped with a huge variety of cybernetic implants, providing for a lot of build experimentation, and there are guns as well.

2. Despelote

Release Date:‌ May 1 2025
Developer:‌ Julián Cordero, Sebastián Valbuena

Published to Steam earlier this month by Panic, the game is a collaborative effort between Cordero, a game designer from Quito, and Valbuena, an animator and musician based in the same city. Their combined experiences and memories of early 2000s Ecuador heavily influence the game’s design and narrative.

Despelote is a first-person video game, a slice of life set in Quito during Ecuador’s qualification for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, where the player is able to play with a soccer and explore the city.

3. Moroi

Release Date:‌ 30 Apr, 2025
Developer:‌ Violet Saint

Set within the Cosmic Engine, Moroi plunges players into a personalised hellscape where reality is distorted, and sanity is a fleeting concept. Players awaken as prisoners with no memory of their past, condemned for incomprehensible crimes. The journey involves battling grotesque creatures, solving perplexing puzzles, and unravelling a twisting narrative anchored by a bizarre cast of characters. Moroi is a grimdark fairytale with an even darker sense of humour—a violent hack-and-slash adventure game developed by Violet Saint. In the game, your main objective is to get out, which means solving puzzles and acquiring items that assist you.

4. Gates of Skeldal (Brány Skeldalu)

Release Date:‌ 30 April  2025
Developer:‌ Napoleon Games

Gates of Skeldal is a classic dungeon crawler role-playing game. The Czech studio Napoleon Games developed the combination of 2d and 3d animation in 1998 for MS-DOS. After a successful crowdfunding campaign, a port for mobile phones was released in 2014. And now it has been launched on Steam on April 30th, 2025.

Set on the mythical island of Rovenland, Gates of Skeldal follows a group of adventurers summoned by the scholar Freghar to thwart five rogue mages attempting to open a gate to the forbidden dimension of Zohar. These mages have constructed the ominous Skeldal Tower, filled with monsters and traps to deter intruders. Players must navigate treacherous dungeons, solve intricate puzzles, and engage in strategic turn-based combat to prevent the impending catastrophe.

5. Dune: Awakening

Release Date:‌ May 20
Developer:‌ Funcom

Dune: Awakening is an upcoming open-world survival MMO developed by Funcom, set in the expansive universe of Frank Herbert’s Dune. Originally slated for release on May 20, 2025, the launch has been postponed to June 10, 2025, to allow for additional refinements based on beta feedback. Players who pre-order the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition will gain early access starting June 5, 2025.

In Dune: Awakening, players will navigate the treacherous desert planet of Arrakis, managing resources like water and spice while contending with environmental hazards such as sandstorms and the ever-present threat of sandworms. The game emphasises survival mechanics, base-building, and factional politics, allowing players to align with major houses like Atreides or Harkonnen.
