Bungie, the developer of Halo, Destiny, and soon to be Marathon, has found itself deep underwater in the past weeks. The art theft of ANTIREAL is not the first time Bungie has been in that situation, and now the community has dubbed them Art Raiders. The Marathon morale has tanked, and they can not afford more problems. More news, courtesy of Destin Legarie, has dropped, which spells worse days for the company if the reports are correct.
Destin Legaries’ recent video detailed information presented to him by former Bungie employees, who had little positive to say about the company. For Destiny players, you might want to look away now, as some comments will leave you feeling empty with Edge of Fate on the horizon.
During a meeting, one of the executives brought up a potential subscription to Destiny. Destin did not detail what the subscription would entail. The predominant reason is that the idea was “vehemently shut down by staff” during the meeting. The details probably never saw the light of day.
The horrible news does not end there. According to Destin, a former employee who spoke to him, said: “Everything happening to Bungie is because of greed.” That does not come as a big surprise, given the decision-making in the past years. The higher-ups were concerned with the Trials of Osiris PvP armor. The glow made the armor better than most Eververse armor, meaning it would impact sales.
For those who do not know, Trials of Osiris armor is free for players to earn by merely participating in the PvP game mode. These problems represent worrying signs because they are more concerned with their sales than player satisfaction. They fail to realize that if player satisfaction drops dramatically, it does not matter how many items are available. There will not be enough players to spend money on the game.
While none of this information is 100% confirmed, the concern is there. It is not the first time information like this has found its way to the public. If they continue down this path, they might find themselves in more trouble than they thought. Destiny 2’s upcoming expansion, Edge of Fate, in July, and the Marathon release in September will play an astronomical part in the company’s future. Both must succeed if the company wants to keep most of its player base and community. Destin spoke about more than the Destiny Subscription and the Trials of Osiris glow almost being pulled, so we recommend you listen to the entire video.
