The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 are worlds apart with little in common, but that didn’t stop CD Projekt Red from writing a Witcher 3 quest where Geralt goes to Night City. The sci-fi RPG’s city was so atrocious to the monster hunter that he thought he’d died and been banished to a horrible afterlife.
The quest never made it into The Witcher 3, of course, but dataminers from the What Lies Unseen project found intact evidence of the quest and some of its dialogue. What Lies Unseen is a massive undertaking that digs into The Witcher 3’s earlier development builds thanks to a database containing thousands of lines of code from the project’s earliest days (thanks, PC Gamer). Among the many dropped ideas, deleted endings, and altered quests was a mission called Through Time and Space.
Through Time and Space catapulted Geralt into the future and dropped him into Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City alongside Avallac’h, the rather intense sage with designs on Ciri’s blood. Based on the quest dialogue What Lies Unseen found, it's safe to say Geralt was not a fan of what he saw. He thought he'd died and gone to a rather unpleasant afterlife.
- Geralt: What... What is this place? Is this the afterlife?
- Avallac'h: No. Just another of the realities the Spiral leads through... Technologically advanced, but broken. Dying.
- Geralt: Disgusting. This stench, noise... How can you live here?!
- Avallac'h: You should know better. This world is inhabited by humans, not elves.
At least Geralt had the comfort of knowing the afterlife wouldn’t be that bad for him. The quest also had a beggar who Geralt tossed a coin to show up, only he was rich thanks to all the gold he got while in Novigrad. Can’t say I’m sorry CDPR cut that part or the quest concept in general, really. It’s a fun idea to toss around, but seems like it’d add little to Geralt and Ciri’s story. Through Time and Space stayed in the final game, but remained firmly rooted in The Witcherverse.
Through Time and Space was far from the only quest CDPR made dramatic alterations to. The Bloody Baron questline originally extended further into the game, for example, and several other character arcs spanned multiple regions, bouncing Geralt back and forth between Skellige, Velen, and Novigrad.
We may see more Witcher news soon at The Game Awards 2024, if rumors are anything to go by. The Witcher 4-slash-Polaris finally entered full production, so they may actually be right.

Colts GM expresses regret on Anthony Richardson decision
The Indianapolis Colts wish they had made a different decision in 2023. The Colts selected Richardson with the No. 4 pick in the 2023 draft after the dual-threat quarterback had an incredible third season at Florida. He threw for 2,549 yards and 17 touchdowns and added 654 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground in his first season as a full-time starter. Given the momentum Richardson had at Florida in 2022 and with Indianapolis during OTAs, then-first-year head coach Shane Steichen named the former Gators quarterback the Colts' starter in the middle of preseason. Per Zak Keefer of The Athletic, Indianapolis general manager Chris Ballard has "regret" in not waiting to start Richardson until he was better adjusted to the league. "The regret is real, from both player and team," Keefer wrote. "Ballard wishes he’d resisted the urge to hand Richardson the job right away, a move late owner Jim Irsay pushed for at the time. What the young quarterback needed was the chance to acclimate to the NFL, to learn the job, to watch a veteran’s daily habits and build his own." “He just doesn’t know yet,” Ballard told The Athletic. “He didn’t have enough experience, both from a play standpoint but also a professional standpoint of how to get ready.” But, Ballard concedes, “when you take one high, there’s an expectation. The pressure to play the kid is real.” Richardson suffered a couple of injuries in his rookie season before his campaign ended in October when he had to have shoulder surgery. He also dealt with injuries and a brief benching in favor of veteran quarterback Joe Flacco in 2024. In his 15 games played in two seasons, Richardson has thrown for 2,391 yards, 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions while adding 635 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. Before training camp this summer, the team declared Richardson and former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones would compete for the starting job for 2025. Despite Richardson's status as a starter being unknown this year, Ballard isn't considering releasing or trading the 23-year-old quarterback. He thinks Richardson can be a starter by 2026. The tricky part now for the Colts is that they must unlock Richardson's talent while also encouraging the young quarterback. Frankly, it won't be good for his confidence if he gets beaten out by Jones in training camp. As the No. 4 pick in the draft, 2023 should have been the year for a real quarterback competition. Instead, a difficult situation has been created for the Colts and Richardson, and it serves as a lesson for overeager general managers and coaches.
Mets finally fix hole in outfield in trade with Orioles
Center field has been a glaring weakness in the New York Mets lineup this season. That is no longer the case after Thursday's trade. Anthony DiComo from MLB.com reported that the Mets have acquired outfielder Cedric Mullins from the Orioles. In exchange, pitching prospects Raimon Gomez, Anthony Nunez and Chandler Marsh are heading to Baltimore. Mullins gives the Mets another dynamic presence in the lineup. He had posted a .229/.305/.433 batting line in 355 plate appearances for the Orioles, hitting 15 homers and 19 doubles while stealing 14 bases. Mullins' overall numbers were torpedoed by a dreadful two month slump in April and May where he had a .169/.204/.338 batting line in 158 plate appearances. The Orioles receive a trio of intriguing pitching prospects highlighted by Nunez. The Mets' 14th-ranked prospect at the time of the trade, Nunez spent two seasons in the San Diego Padres' system as an infielder before going to Division II University of Tampa. A two-way player in 2024, he signed with the Mets as an undrafted free agent and has rapidly ascended through their system. Nunez has a solid arsenal highlighted by a plus sweeper and changeup, helping his cutter and mid-90s fastball play up. His command is a work in progress but he may have a future as a late-inning weapon in the Orioles bullpen. Gomez, the Mets' 30th-ranked prospect, has the type of velocity that few pitchers can match. His 80-grade fastball regularly sits in the triple digits and has been clocked as high as 104.5 mph. His plus slider can make opposing hitters look foolish, especially if they are gearing up for the fastball. Gomez has question marks — his command is questionable at best and he is coming off of a Tommy John surgery in 2023. Nonetheless, his pure stuff is the type that teams dream about. Marsh was unranked in the Mets system and is another relief prospect with a fastball/slider profile. His fastball sits in the mid-90s and he has a solid slider, however, both play down due to a lack of control.
Cubs Target Gets Traded To Yankees In Blockbuster Deal
With things moving quickly at the trade deadline, a potential target for the Chicago Cubs has come off the board. The Cubs have done a nice job so far of improving their pitching staff, but there have been some notable relievers who have moved so far. While Chicago has already added Andrew Kittredge, he is more of a middle reliever than a potential eighth or ninth inning pitcher. Adding an impact arm like Jhoan Duran or Ryan Helsley would have been ideal yesterday, but they have also now reportedly missed out on David Bednar. According to Jeff Passan, the talented right-hander from the Pittsburgh Pirates is going to be heading to the New York Yankees. After Duran and Helsley came off the board, Bednar was the next best option, and it was the Yankees who won the bidding war. So far this year, he has totaled a 2.37 ERA and 17 saves in 42 appearances. Due to the struggles of the Pirates, there haven’t been a ton of save opportunities for Bednar, but he has no doubt been one of the best closers in baseball this campaign. This would have been the type of impact addition that many are expecting Chicago to make before the deadline. However, with the former All-Star off the board, there aren’t many closers left that can help the Cubs. With that being said, it will be interesting to see if Chicago looks to get more in the starting pitcher market to improve the team in that area, rather than the bullpen. Green Bay Packers: 'Most Productive' Practice Yet Is Good Sign for Oft-Injured Tight End Luke Musgrave Entering Year 3
Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave had a rough go last season, his second in the NFL after being drafted 42nd overall in 2023. In addition to being hampered by health issues, long before season’s end he had been clearly superseded by fellow sophomore Tucker Kraft. That’s not going to change in 2025, but Musgrave looks to be off on the right foot in training camp as he hopes for his first season at near full health. Musgrave shows strong hands, route-running in practice No. 7 of Green Bay Packers camp Musgrave managed to play 11 games as a rookie and commanded a superior target share over Kraft, averaging more than four per contest to the latter’s 2.4. He finished the season with 34 catches for 352 yards and was named a breakout candidate ahead of year two. Injuries did not let that happen. Barely involved in the passing game, per Pro Football Focus he took only 74 offensive snaps and accumulated 45 receiving yards. Kraft, meanwhile, taken 78th that same draft, emerged as a go-to target for quarterback Jordan Love. On run plays, the offense turned to him exclusively for blocking duties. Kraft has also enjoyed a massive availability advantage. Through two seasons, he has appeared in every game. Musgrave may be a clearcut secondary option, but he can still do a lot more for this offense. Team reporter and Packers.com editor Mike Spofford liked what he saw from him in Thursday’s practice, the seventh of training camp leading up to Family Night on August 2. “I thought today we saw the most productive practice from Luke Musgrave that he’s had so far in camp. Third-year tight end, lot of talent, really athletic. Has unfortunately dealt with a lot of injuries his first two seasons. But today he made a couple of catches on downfield throws from Jordan Love. The first one was an amazing throw that was fit in right by the boundary between Carrington Valentine, Xavier McKinney. Musgrave makes a nice catch there. He makes a sliding catch on another one, a back-foot throw. … And almost hauls in a desperation throw by Love to the end zone at the end of two-minute [drill].” Spofford said Musgrave also connected with backup Malik Willis while drilling with the second unit during team periods. He did note that, despite a strong showing, Musgrave did not check all the boxes. Particularly if he’s limited to passing situations, as he was last year, he’ll have to shore up his protection skills. “Not a perfect practice for him,” Spofford said. “I saw one rep where he got matched up unfortunately against Rashan Gary in pass protection. Love had to scramble out of the pocket. So not a perfect day, but Luke Musgrave was a force on that field.”
