Drowned Lake Playtest Available Now On Steam

The game is developed by Monumental Collab and will be published by CRITICAL REFLEX. Choices and noise levels affect gameplay, as the characters face supernatural dangers lurking in the forest and the lake.

Drowned Lake’s Steam page says that the game explores “themes of religious syncretism and social discontent, all wrapped in a chilling documentary found footage horror experience.” The three playable characters face their inner demons, as they traverse through the lake. The Steam page also says, “From abandoned wrecks or to quiet streams, a dark presence pervades every inch of the lake. Safety is a dream. It’s time to wake up.”

CRITICAL REFLEX’s page for Drowned Lake says, “Navigate narrow areas, complete intricate puzzles, and experience the true terrors the darkness hides in first-person POV sections inspired by escape rooms and classic horror games.”

Mike Wilson of Bloody Disgusting wrote, “The playtest will have you navigating your boat through precarious hurdles and abandoned debris. The evidence is fragmented and scattered. You’ll need to fish out the clues in order to reveal the truth that lies behind the missing student’s disappearance. Your safety, for lack of a better term, is a fluid concept.”
