Like every shooter, your weapons will be your main method of interaction with the high-octane world of Far Far West. We’ve been provided with a wide selection of Western-themed firearms to fight off the forces of the Cryptic Overlord alongside our spellslinging.
We’ll be going over a few of the Best Weapons you can pick from. Luckily, the starting options are some of the best, and they’ll be able to carry you for the grind towards weapon fragments, Graves, and other collectibles. Let’s start from the top!
When it comes to unlocking new gear and weapons, you’ll need to do some extra legwork before you can buy them straight out. Head over to the gunsmith, where you can upgrade weapons, to see the full list of options, including Primary weapons, secondary weapons, and Gear.
In order to work towards unlocking a new piece of equipment, you’ll need to start tracking it’s Fragments. Every weapon requires 6 Fragments, while utilities need 3. These Fragments can be obtained via Forges, bonus objectives, and boss fights while out on missions.
Once you’ve gathered the required 6, head back to the gunsmith and purchase your new hardware. Note that most primaries cost 500 gold, while secondaries cost 300. If you’re struggling to get gold, try some higher difficulty runs where events are more plentiful and gold comes with a bonus modifier!
| Best in slot Primaries | Overall Strengths | Best in slot Secondaries | Overall Strengths |
| Quad Cylinder | Solid consistent damage, ease of access, great at close to mid range. | Revolver | Amazing failsafe weapon, great per-shot damage, and effect appliance. Solid at shockingly far ranges if need arises. |
| Shotgun | Absolutely chews through hordes, can tear through bosses and elites once upgraded. | Sheriff Stars | Functionally infinite ammo, ailment stacking, and solid on-hit damage. Super fun! |
| Leveredge | Fantastic damage per shot output at all ranges, flexible, and spews lead at higher levels. |
We’ll start with some primaries that really guide how your build will shape. While your secondary is always there to fall back on, your primary will always be your workhorse. Focus your upgrades on your general Hero and your primary weapon for the best bang for your buck.
The starting primary weapon is the Quad Cylinder, an automatic rifle that is highly effective in almost all situations. Great spray and pray up close, solid accuracy with burst fire, and great upgrades, the Quad Cylinder can stay relevant at all difficulty levels.
The biggest issue I had with the Quad Cylinder is just how fast it chews through ammo. Unregulated fire will see you cut through your ammo reserve very quickly, so prioritize ammo upgrades if you’re sticking with the Quad Cylinder for the long haul.
Pair it with the default ammo utility and a burst damage secondary like the Bow for a super solid loadout.
A personal favorite, the Far Far West’s Shotgun isn’t the slow firing beast you may have expected from its contemporaries. Instead, the Shotgun is a fully automatic shell spewer that can do unmatched damage at close range.
While it suffers a bit with range, Accuracy upgrades will tighten the spread and increase it’s midrange effectiveness. With extra ammo and fire rate, it’s an absolute bullet hose that can cut through chaff or burst bosses with ease.
The default Revolver is a great pair for in case of longer range foes, and Healing Bell is a stellar Joker to slot due to the sheer ease of hitting critical hits with a wall of buckshot.
Your archetype cowboy rifle, the Leveredge is a hard-hitting lever-action rifle that serves as a perfect middle ground between the Quad Cylinder and the Long Ranger Sniper Rifle. The Leveredge is an investment, with solid damage and a great rate of fire that only improves with upgrades.
Where the sniper rifle struggles at close-range gunfights, the Leveredge can comfortably perform, even while surrounded. With some nasty recoil, you’ll need to pace your shots during longer ranged engagements, but the per shot damage is nothing to scoff at.
A perfect blend of damage and on-demand action, the Leveredge is a phenomenal primary once you diversify the rest of your kit, offering a comfortable option across all ranges while you experiment.
Secondaries may take the second seat, but they’re no less important. With on-demand ailment damage and lifesteal, they can be a make-or-break. Let’s take a look at a couple of the best on offer right out the gate.
The default Revolver is another stellar pick when it comes to your loadout, dealing great damage quickly from any range.
Like every secondary, you can give it one of three elemental infusions, modifying it’s damage and letting it combo with Cactus spells. Need a quick fire trap? Potshot a Mino. Want an electric turret? Your Cacti will do wonders with the bonus damage, all for a single bullet.
The revolver also serves as a great sustained battle weapon once it’s charged with Lifesteal upgrades. Like any true cowboy, a Revolver by your side is never a bad idea, so get plenty comfortable with it as you traverse the Far West.
By far the most out there of the launch weapons, the Sheriff Star sees you using a bundle of Sheriff’s badges as ninja stars.
Uniquely, the Sheriff Stars can be collected from hit enemies within a certain range, which can be upgraded. This means that, as long as you aren’t whiffing shots on flying enemies or something, you have functionally infinite ammo.
Alongside this great ammo economy, the Stars do solid damage, constantly reapply their elemental effects while in an enemy, and can be rapid fired.
An off-the-wall and all too fun pick, pairing them with the Shotgun is my current loadout for big damage and constant uptime.
