Flins Character Guide: Best Weapons, Artifacts, and Team Comps

The first Main DPS character of Nod Krai finally arrives. Flins is an interesting character. He’s both extremely amiable and completely creepy in equal measure. Fortunately, this combination is handled expertly by the writers and VA to make him an engaging and fascinating character. The fact that he can output a decent amount of damage helps too.

How Does Flins Work

Flins is a 5-Star Electro Polearm Main DPS who specializes in dealing damage through the Lunar-Charged reaction.

A Normal Attack by Any Other Name

Flins primarily attacks with his Enhanced Normal Attack, which he gains after using his Skill. Like Childe, Flins’ Skill provides its own damage modifiers for his Enhanced Normal Attacks, so leveling up his Normal Attack Talent is unnecessary.

After using his Skill, you can use it again to augment his Burst. The augment lasts 6 seconds, and the CD for the second use of his Skill is also 6 seconds. Given that his Skill has a CD of 10 seconds, this means you can augment his Burst twice per cast.

Death from Above

Flins Burst has, arguably, one of the best animations in the game. Unfortunately, if you are playing him correctly, you’ll almost never see it. When Flins’ Skill augments his Burst, it decreases its Energy cost and base damage, but also makes it immediately castable (it counts as a different Ability, so the normal CD doesn’t apply) and deals Lunar-Charged. The main reason why this matters is because of his personal weapon.

Flins’ personal weapon has a Buff that activates after he uses his Burst and only lasts for 3.5 seconds. As such, he needs to use his Burst often in order to keep it up. That said, if you don’t have this weapon, you should probably still use his augmented Burst because it’s faster (allowing him more time to wail on enemies with his Enhanced Normal Attacks) and deals Lunar-Charged DMG, which he can enhance with his Passives.

Passive Power

Flins’ 1st Passive increases this EM by 8% of his ATK (up to 160), and his 2nd Passive increases the base damage of Lunar-Charged DMG by 0.7% per 100 of his ATK (up to 14%). To get the full benefit of both of these Passives, he will need a minimum of 2000 ATK.

His Utility Passive displays Nod Krai materials on the mini-map and allows him to “decipher the whispers of the Wild Hunt”. While I haven’t tested this out myself, I’m guessing this means that when he’s near a group of Wild Hunt enemies, he can understand what they are saying.

What To Build on Flins

Flins has a very specific build if you want to maximize his damage. You need an EM Clock, ATK Cup, and CRIT DMG Hat. Lunar-Charged, as far as we know, isn’t affected by Electro DMG, so getting that on a Cup actually leads to less damage because his augmented Burst deals several instances of Lunar-Charged DMG. Trust me, there is a noticeable difference.

His best Artifact set is, unsurprisingly, the Night of the Sky’s Unveiling. If you can’t get his personal Polearm, try either Fractured Halo or Primordial Jade Winged-Spear for 5-Star options and either Prospector’s Shovel or Missive Windspear for 4-Star options.

Who Synergizes with Flins

Ineffa is his best buddy right now. If you don’t have her but you still want to reach Ascendant Gleam, then bring Aino. She’s not quite as good because of her Burst’s static nature, but she’s still an excellent Support for him. Apart from them, bring anyone who can help him trigger Lunar-Charged reactions. Furina is always good, as are Xingqui, Yelan, Shinobu, and Fischl.
