Guilty Gear Strive Reveals New Fighter: Meet Unika

Unika makes her first in-game appearance in Guilty Gear Strive after appearing to fans for the first time in the Guilty Gear anime, Guilty Gear Dual Rulers. Canonically, she is the daughter of Ky Kiske and Queen Dizzy, who traveled back from the future to the current timeline. This also makes her the younger sister of Sin Kiske, though the time travel element has Unika hailing from a much darker future.

Fans have been raving about the addition. Her gameplay features elements of both of her parents’ play styles. Her attacks have a kind of “stance fighter” feeling to them as she can nimbly switch between playstyles. She also has some of the familiar fan favorite moves of her parents, like her father’s Stun Dipper attack.

Unika’s moveset and gameplay in Guilty Gear Strive are the main factor that has players hyping up the release. Her attacks feature a unique weapons mechanic, which having a unique gameplay mechanic is expected from the Guilty Gear Strive cast. Unika uses her futuristic weaponry to enhance her normal attacks into powerful versions.

Final Thoughts

Even though fans got a bit of a peek behind the curtain at Unika due to the data mine of Arc System Works‘ servers earlier this month, the reception of this character was still surprisingly positive. Fans of both the anime and game storylines are satisfied. Guilty Gear Strive players and competitors are having fun with Unika, and the two new stages have also been added to the game. It is still early in the Unika timeline, pun intended, but Arc System Works has got to be satisfied with this release so far.
