ILL is an upcoming horror survival game that is definitely not for the faint of heart. Revealed at Summer Games Fest 2025 on June 6, the brutal horror immediately sent shivers up every viewer’s spine. The bloody, gory, intense game forces players to face a nightmare-fueled research lab in which the only goal is to find what you once loved, and get out alive. Easy said than done, it appears. For those looking for the next huge survival horror adventure, this game may be the one that delivers.

ILL Will Test Your Very Instincts To Their Core

ILL is a game supported by Mundfish Powerhouse but published and developed by an indie studio, Team Clout. Mundfish was very busy at Summer Games Fest, with a variety of different games in the works. As I have said many times in the past, indie horror is really dominating the industry lately, with games that push the boundaries of what the genre can be. This game may be one of the most brutal of all, though, with blood, gore, and dismemberment around every corner.

In ILL, players will find themselves in a research fort, with nothing but terrifying zombie-like monsters at every corner. Aside from the regular blood and gore known to this type of survival horror, players will also face dismemberment mechanics that are as intriguing as they are horrifying. Body parts slither through piles of blood and gore as you work your way through the labyrinth of a research facility. Apparently, your goal is to recover something that “means the most to you”. I really hope it is worth it.

Final Thoughts

ILL should truly inspire horror fans looking for the next brutal survival game. Its inspiration is obvious, but there are enough unique spins to make the game feel fresh even for diehards of the horror genre. There was a brief concept clip of the game back in 2021, but finally, fans get a full look. Although no release date has been announced yet, it will be available for PS5 and Steam, and can already be added to your Steam wishlist. Just make sure your heart is up to the task!
