The expectations going into the opening day of LCK were dashed. Dplus were by far the favorite in their series against BRION. In classic Dplus fashion, they stumbled and were victims of their downfall. Brion impressed in catching Dplus’ mistakes. In the second series, GenG dominated HLE. They proved that they are significantly ahead of everyone else. HLE must regroup and regain their form from the LCK Cup.

LCK 2025 – Dplus Versus BRION

Initial Expectation

Dplus 2-0 BRO

Result

Dplus 1-2 BRO

Series Summary

Dplus began the series in expected fashion. They dominated game one. Morgan and Croco took offense to it and decided to take the series into their hands. They combined to destroy Dplus and shock the world in typical BRO fashion. For Dplus, the disappointment continues. Many of their losses were self-inflicted, with players getting caught in horrible positions and overforcing on plays. Showmaker, especially struggled in this series, often dying in side lanes or teleporting into bad positions. Beryl’s game three was particularly egregious, dying on repeat, but some of it is attributed to his role in the game from the draft.

Initial Expectation

GenG 2-1 HLE

Result

GenG 2-0 HLE

Summary

With GenG coming off two international victories and just arriving in Korea, expectations were that they would fall off. Not only did they not fall off, but they also performed well in the series and dominated HLE. They looked better today than in most of the international matches. On the other hand, HLE struggled, falling behind GenG in every role. They recovered in the second game, matching GenG. Zeus notably had a significant improvement. Zeka’s form is a concern. He struggled to find plays on Taliyah and was often caught in bad positions. Kiin and Chovy in the second game found angles in the teamfights to push GenG ahead. GenG has now secured their World Championship spot.
