MSI 2025: FlyQuest Versus G2 Esports The West Has a New Hope

G2 Esports has been the hope for the Western League of Legends for many years. The 2025 MSI ends in a massive disappointment for the LEC second seed. FlyQuest knocked out G2 in convincing fashion to remain in the competition. FlyQ and Movistar KOI are now the hope of the West and must take the mantle from G2.

Draft

Summary

FlyQ earns early gold lane advantages through swaps. The game is quiet with neither team making a move. FlyQ gets the Grubs, while G2 cross-maps the first Drake. The first fight ends with a kill for Hans Sama and the second Drake. G2 moves to soul point and gets the Feats of Warfare.

Bwipo catches Caps, setting up Atakan for FlyQ. Inspired is the one to find Caps on the Soul fight to deny Hextech Soul for G2. G2 gets Caps on the top wave, drawing them to the Baron. FlyQ wins a 3v5 fight, Massu secures Baron, and they use the advantage to secure Drake. FlyQ continues to stack Drakes. G2 secures Baron, but they lose two on the exit. FlyQ in a 5v3 advantage walks down mid-lane to win the game.

Summary

Hans Sama gets a double kill to start the game. The first 5v5 fight takes place at the Grubs, but even with the gold lead, G2 loses the objective, and Hans Sama dies. FlyQ begins Drake stacking by winning the fight. Trades go back and forth between the teams, but FlyQ is on the soul point. G2 stops the stacking and gets the Atakan after winning consecutive fights. FlyQ fights back, catching Hans Sama, which allows them to pressure for the Cloud Soul. FlyQ wins the all-important fight with an ace to get Baron and Elder Drake. The North American representative ends the game to move to match point.

Summary

Skewmond gets caught giving Inspired the first blood. Skewmond makes another mistake while attempting a dive on Bwipo, giving over another kill. BrokenBlade gets dived at the same time and trades 1 for 1. At 15 minutes, Caps is the only G2 player with a gold lead. With no G2 vision on Atakan, FlyQ secures the objective. G2 keeps the game close for almost 13 minutes. While Caps pushes the top wave, Labrov hooks in and gets killed. FlyQ continues the push, killing everyone before Caps can arrive. FlyQ wins the game and ends the series.

Reaction

G2 were the second-best team throughout the series. They found some angles in the first two games, but it was never enough to gain an advantage in the series. Caps was the only G2 player who stood up to FlyQ and had a better series than his counterpart. It is a massive disappointment for the once-best team in Europe. FlyQ awaits the loser of T1 and Bilibili Gaming.
