ULTRASOUND is the newest game by developer Here Below, and the trailer just dropped. ULTRASOUND is a sci-fi body horror game based around, you guessed it, an ultrasound, a device doctors use mainly for pregnant women to produce pictures of soft tissue inside a person’s body. The game will use this concept as the basis of the game and explore the horrors of an ultrasound no one talks about. Here’s a breakdown of the trailer and all we know about the game so far.

The trailer starts off with pretty disturbing imagery of grotesque aliens, one of which we see through ultrasound imaging. We are apparently on board a spaceship that is overrun by an alien infection. We play as Medical Officer Dana Voss, seemingly alone on this ship, though the environment tells us a different story. The trailer wasn’t a high-octane cacophony of scary imagery, like usual body horror games. It was foreboding, with a sense of dread, and that was what made it scary and exciting.
Looking at the trailer, we didn’t get much information on gameplay. However, playing as a medical officer, we are most likely going to do a lot of doctorly things, like performing surgery. It adds to the body horror aspect of the game, while giving us that sense of dread the trailer was trying to make us feel. I’m pretty sure a lot of us would agree we wouldn’t like seeing surgical procedures being done. I mean, I have a lot of friends who were pretty squimish playing Mortuary Assistant. I have a feeling the same will be for this game.
The game will have us perform surgery, maintain the ship’s unique systems, craft medicine, and use a portable ultrasound machine in the goal of stopping the alien infection from spreading. This game will also feature multiple endings depending on the choices you make throughout the game. There is no shortage of content and mechanics you have to manage throughout the game, which will make it all the more fun. ULTRASOUND is available to wishlist now only on Steam, and a release date for the game will be announced later.
