Patch Rundowns delivered by Riot Mortdog have become the norm for the Teamfight Tactics community. The Sunday before a new patch, Mortdog runs through all the upcoming changes in the patch. That occurrence continued this Sunday with the Patch 14.2 Rundown. There are many changes, some more impactful than others, and today, we are discussing which ones have the most impact. A reminder, these changes may be subject to change come Patch Day.

Riot Mortdog’s Patch Rundown Overview

The Full Patch Rundown is on Riot Mortdog’s YouTube video. A summary of the changes:

Systems

  • Hacks will provide fewer resources.

Traits

  • Six Boombots gain some power.
  • Some Cypher cashouts received minor adjustments.
  • Golden Ox Emblem could allow for outrageous boards, with the Six Piece granting a guaranteed gold on kill.
  • Tempo leveling Nitro is weaker, but the reroll versions are significantly better.
  • Seven Syndicate is weaker, not letting it defeat 10 Anima Squad boards.
  • Exotech Items adjusted to be on a similar power level. The better-performing items got brought down while the weaker ones got brought up.

Champions

  • Shaco and Naafiri receive buffs that may bring them into the meta.
  • Cyberboss Poppy offers more potency with Spell Damage buffs
  • Base Twisted Fate is better, while Hat Twisted Fate is weaker.
  • Jarvan IV receives significant damage buffs, increasing his spell potency.
  • Rengar’s Spell Damage and Spell Heal have been nerfed slightly.
  • Annie gets some Spell Power back after the Tibbers’ nerfs.
  • Cho’Gath Health gain no longer scales with %HP, making him less reliant on Six Bruiser.
  • Miss Fortune is stronger without the Syndicate Hat, but the same with it.
  • Samira should hit harder with AD buffs.

Augments

  • Jax, Poppy, and Sylas receive buffs to increase their damage.
  • Cyberdeck is the best gold Augment and loses one of its Exotech Items.
  • Gragas with Chug Bug is belly-bumping units more.
  • Transistor grants more Attack Speed.
  • Trial Run, another Exotech Augment, was nerfed significantly.
  • A handful of Black Market Augments receive buffs: Chemtech Overdrive, Cruel Pact, Double Trouble, Lifelong Learning, and Scoped Weapons.
  • Circlets of non-Prismatic Traits are buffed to make them more appealing.

Patch Rundown Reaction

So, who are the winners and losers of the upcoming 14.2 Patch? Golden Ox is most certainly one of them. It is unlikely the trait dominates the meta. Given its reliance on Emblem and lack of power in its carries, it might struggle to find its feet. However, an early Six Golden Ox could take over the lobby with the influx of gold. Annie is getting buffed, which helps Golden Ox in the mid-late game.

The Kitty Cat Rengar will be dealing less damage and healing less, making him less of a threat, but the Executioner composition will still be viable. Tempo Nitro will be significantly weaker, while the reroll versions have a hefty buff. Reroll Jhin might be dominant. Keep an eye on how Cho’Gath performs in non-six Brusier compositions. The prediction is that other frontlines will be more attractive to play than four Bruisers.

The reduction of value from Hacks should create games with less overall power for every player’s board. There should be fewer games where players hit capped boards. The full patch notes article will be released later this week.
