According to Bloober Team, a Silent Hill 1 Remake is in the works, revealed during a shareholder update for the company. The first Silent Hill game debuted 26 years ago in 1999, and something that has trended majorly in the last decade is remakes of older games like Silent Hill. Bloober Team has already done this with Silent Hill 2 a couple of years ago, and many games like Fatal Frame (also an older game) are getting remade to be experienced in this modern age of gaming. Here’s what Bloober has to say about this remake, and what we can expect from it.
Bloober Team has announced a Silent Hill 1 Remake in the works during a shareholder update for the company. Bloober Team spoke on the performances of their games, like Cronos: The New Dawn and the Silent Hill 2 Remake. The update reads:
“We have two first-party production teams, one of which is working on Silent Hill 1, and the other has begun work on a second project. The second-party team is currently working on five projects.”
The success of the Silent Hill 2 Remake is likely the reason Bloober Team is moving forward with remaking the first one, and I’m all for it. Silent Hill is a relatively old game, so bringing the first two games into the modern era of gaming with updated graphics and gameplay is a significant achievement. It will definitely call upon longtime fans of the series, while reining in new players who are unfamiliar with how the first game started it all.
Fans are worried, though. It took 5 long years for Bloober Team to work on and release the Silent Hill 3 Remake, and fans are expecting the same for Silent Hill 1. Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather a game take a long time to develop and be good, than get a half-assed game that doesn’t deliver on all the hype. I mean, look at how successful Dead Island 2 was when it released, given the last Dead Island game released 10 years before Dead Island 2, and it’s now in my top 10 favorite zombie games.
Hopefully, the release of Silent Hill 1 won’t be as long, and I’m confident in Bloober Team to do the original game justice.
