The sequel to Stellar Blade is currently in development. ShiftUp, the game’s developer, expects to release the sequel before 2027. The game was recently released on PC on June 11, and was originally released on PS5 in 2024.
The third-person action game is known to have similarities to the critically-acclaimed hack-and-slash NieR: Automata, released in 2017. ShiftUp’s CEO, Kim Hyung-tae, said that the game’s sequel will focus on story elements that were cut out from the first game’s final version.
According to Forbes, in an interview with Korean news outlet ThisIsGame, Kim Hyung-tae said, “To be honest, we’ve been fully committed to releasing the PC version following the PS version, so now is the time to do proper R&D. It would be great if it came out in 2027, but there are only three years left, so I can only say that we’ll do our best. However, I can guarantee that we’ll present a great work.”
At release, people liked the gameplay but found the story lacking. The Sekiro-inspired gameplay made up for most of the game’s shortcomings, according to IGN reviewer Mitchell Saltzman. Saltzman is IGN’s Editorial Producer, who rated the game a 7 out of 10.
In his review of the original game, Saltzman wrote, “Thankfully, the most important part of an action game is the action itself, and the game checks pretty much all of the boxes when it comes to its combat. It’s smoothly animated, challenging, satisfying, has a healthy amount of enemy variety, and while there’s a lot of depth, it never became overwhelming in what it demanded of me.”
The game sold over one million units, as of May 2025, according to Insider Gaming. News of a sequel came after ShiftUp had a presentation on May 16. In addition to things such as “platform expansion,” which I presume means that the original game will come out on more platforms, a sequel was confirmed. Also, news of a new project came out on the same slide as the sequel.
The game received popularity for being one of the PS5’s few exclusive titles. Also, Eve’s design and her costumes attracted a lot of attention from fans of titles such as Bayonetta, Lollipop Chainsaw, and Nier: Automata. ShiftUp CEO Kim Hyung-tae’s dedication to visuals made the game stand out among other games released in 2024 and in previous years.
There is little information about the sequel, other than it’s official. Also, the game may come out before 2027. If you want to play the original game, it is available on PS5 and PC. The game has an average score of 90% across multiple game review sites. Please look out for more updates from the developer and our site.
