Week 8, Day 1 of the LTA North Split 2 Playoffs. FLY vs SR. FLY is on Blue, SR is on Red. FLY’s roster is Bwipo (top), Inspired (jungle), Quad (mid), Massu (bot), and Busio (support). SR roster is Fudge (top), Contractz (jungle), Palafox (mid), Bvoy (bot), and Ceos (support). For more information on what early, mid, and late game means, see Terms at the bottom of the article.
Ban phase removes Yone, Neeko, Gwen, Azir, Ezreal, and Vi from contention.
FLY starts things out by picking Varus. SR take Rumble and Naafiri. FLY counter with Pantheon and Galio. SR ends the first set of picks by grabbing Jhin.
During 2nd ban phase, SR targets the Mid Lane with Viktor and Taliyah bans while FLY take shots at Support with Bard and Karma being removed.
SR starts champion selection back up by locking in Annie. FLY round out their team with Ornn and Alistar. SR finish things off by choosing Braum. FLY drafted a team with strong, semi-global engage and protection, but low damage. SR’s team is more of a pick comp with long-range follow-up, but not a lot of a lockup.
Team comps are: FLY – Orrn (top), Pantheon (jungle), Galio (mid), Varus (bot), Alistar (support) vs SR – Rumble (top), Naafiri (jungle), Annie (mid), Jhin (bot), Braum (support).
FLY ward their Raptors so that SR can’t do their customary start of game invade. Apart from that, nothing interesting really happens.
Contractz invades and pushes Inspired off his Red Buff. Turns into a 50/50 Smite fight, which Contractz wins.
Inspired responses by invading Contractz while he does his Krugs. Another 50/50 Smite fight. This time, Inspired wins.
Inspired tries to gank Top Lane with Bwipo. Fudge Flashes out of the way of the Ornn’s Ultimate, shutting down the play. Inspired leaves and then returns once he hits level 6. Using Grand Starfall, he arrives and takes down Fudge for 1st Blood of the game.
Inspired starts up the Voidgrubs. He manages to secure 1 before Contractz comes in and Smites away the 2nd. While the 3rd is still up, a fight between both teams starts up. Inspired and Bwipo back off and engage with Fudge near top lane while the rest of FLY battle it out with the rest of SR.
Quad gets locked up by Bvoy’s Deadly Flourish and dies to Palafox. Fudge, meanwhile, loses his 2v1 and dies to Inspired. The fight ends 1-1 and the 3rd Grub goes over to SR.
Early game ends with the gold about even but SR ever so slight ahead in farm.
FLY starts up and takes the 1st Drake (Hextech) uncontested. Contractz ganks Massu in Mid Lane with Ceos and Bvoy. Massu gets looked up but Cleanses him and manages to get out of Curtain Call’s line of fire to survive.
In Top Lane, Palafox gets knocked up by Bwipo Call of the Forge God, stunned by Inspired, and finally killed by Bwipo.
A fight breaks out in the Bot River. Both teams try to set up against the other, but FLY pulls the trigger first. Busio dives in on to Ceos who, though fairly tanky, dies to Inspired. FLY look to engage further but SR are able to disengage so both teams back off. Fight goes 1-0 for FLY.
Inspired takes Rift Herald completely uncontested. When the 2nd Drake (Cloud) spawns FLY rotates down first and starts it up. SR don’t contest and FLY secure the objective.
Contractz goes Top to help support Palafox but Inspired uses Grand Starfall to dive them under Turret. Palafox dies first to Bwipo. More members of both teams start filing in. Contractz dies to Bwipo as well, followed by Fudge, who TPs in just to die instantly to Inspired.
Ceos jump into the fight as well. He uses his Ultimate to knock up Massu, who is then snared by Bvoy. But Massu just tanks the hits and walks away with his team. Fight goes 3-0 to FLY, who take the Outer Top Turret for 1st Turret of the game.
FLY drop Herald in Mid and use it to take the Mid Outer Turret of SR. Contractz gets out caught out of position after the Turret drops and gets killed by Bwipo.
Quad uses Grand Entrance to knock-up Palafox and Ceos. He then taunts them and Bvoy. Palafox gets chunked down and then killed by Quad. Bvoy opens up the Curtain Call to try and kill Busio, who is low, but FLY body block for him. Fight ends 2-0 for FLY.
Mid Game ends with FLY ahead in gold by 3.8k but SR still ahead in farm.
FLY take the 3rd Drake (Chemtech) uncontested. They are now on Soul Point. FLY then start and take Atakhan incredibly quickly. SR attempts some performative resistance but ultimately FLY take the objective without issue. They then chase after SR.
Busio is the first to engage with Hextech Flash. This is followed by Massu’s Chains of Corruption to lock up Bvoy and Ceos. Both Quad and Inspired Ult in. Bvoy manages to slip away.
As 3 members of FLY chase down 2 Ceos and Contractz, Palafox dies to Bwipo in a side skirmish with him and Massu. Inspired manages to kill Ceos. Contractz tries to protect his Inner Bot Turret but is pushed away. Fight goes 2-0 for FLY.
Quad catches Fudge out in Bot Lane. He chases him down the lane as Palafox TPs in to try and help. Working together, they manage to Quad low enough that he has Flash away, but Fudge drops an Equalizer on him, and he dies to Palafox (Liandry’s Torment tick).
This fight last so long, however, that Massu is able to arrive and kill Fudge. He is then killed by Palafox in return. Busio, Bwipo, and Inspired arrive. Inspired gets locked in to a 3v1 while the other 2 make a beeline for Palafox. Palafox dies to Bwipo a split second before Inspired dies to Contractz.
SR chase after Busio and Bwipo. Contractz kills Busio while Bwipo kills Ceos. Contractz and Bvoy chase after Bwipo through Bot River. He survives an exorbitantly long time before Fudge Teleports in and weakens him enough for Bvoy to get the kill. Fight goes 5-3 to SR but took forever.
FLY take the 4th Drake uncontested. They now have Chemtech Soul, making them even more exasperatingly tanky.
Both teams look for a fight in the Red Side Top Jungle as they set up for Baron. Again, Busio pulls the trigger first. He jumps in, followed by Quad and Inspired, and SR starts to fall. Bvoy dies to Inspired, Contractz to Massu, Ceos to Quad, Palafox to Inspired, and Fudge to Bwipo for the ACE. Fight goes 5-0 for FLY.
With the lowest respawn timer being in the low 30ers, FLY march down Mid, taking structures as they go, and end the game.
FLY ends the game at 30:05 with a 6.6k gold lead. The final score was 19-6.
SR was, ironically, too passive this game. They let FLY take objective after objective after objective without contest. As a result, the already tanky FLY comp get even tankier. SR needs to work on their timing and vision but also, they need to contest for objectives because they can make a massive difference.
