Aces Coach Becky Hammon Has Words About Lexie Hull After Unexpected Development

Lexie Hull and the Indiana Fever remained hot in the 2025 WNBA playoffs, defeating Becky Hammon and the Las Vegas Aces 89-73 in Game 1 of the semifinals. On Tuesday, the Fever looked to extend their postseason winning streak to four and take a 2-0 series lead back to Indiana in Game 2.

With all the injuries the Fever endured at the guard position, including Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham, Hull has stepped into a bigger role for Indiana during these playoffs. Through four games, she is averaging 8.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks, while providing her team with physical defense and hustle.

However, just hours before Game 2, the Fever announced that Hull was questionable due to a back injury. While she participated in the morning shootaround, the fourth-year guard was wearing a back stabilizer, according to Indy Star's Chloe Peterson. Hull also went through her individual warmup.

"NEW: Lexie Hull is questionable tonight in a late update to the injury report," Peterson wrote on X. "Hull was wearing a back stabilizer during shootaround this morning, but seemed to participate normally."

During a Game 2 pregame press conference, a reporter mentioned to Hammon that Hull had been ruled questionable before asking what the Fever guard brings to the table. Hammon offered nothing but praise in response.

“(Hull) brings disruption," Hammon said. "She’s a disruptor. I love the way she plays. She hustles. She’s everywhere. I got a lot of respect for Lexie Hull.”

During the morning shootaround, Hull admitted she was “a little sore ” but refused to use it as an excuse. Fever coach Stephanie White also said Hull would be evaluated during warmups before a decision was made on her status. And 30 minutes before the game, Hull was ruled available.

Following Fever vs. Aces Game 2, the series will shift to Indianapolis for Game 3 on Friday.
