The Las Vegas Aces had two picks in the 2025 WNBA Draft.

With the first pick at coming up at No. 13, the Aces selected Aaliyah Nye of Alabama.

Nye hails from Huntsville, Alabama but played her high school ball in East Lancing, Michigan.

Before starting at Alabama, Nye played two seasons at Illinois.

While at Illinois, Nye averaged 8.1 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. She also played an average of 23.0 minutes per game.

She transferred to Alabama after the 2022-23 season.

With the Crimson Tide, she finished the first season ranked second in the SEC in three-point shooting averaging 45.5 percent on 164 attempts.  She also became Alabama’s all-time career leader in three-pointers made with 111.

With the addition of Aaliyah Nye, this could possibly fill the gap left by Kate Martin who moved on to the Golden Valkyries.

Nye is also a beat on the defensive side of the ball with 52 steals during the 2023-24 season and a total of 136 steals in the last three years.

With time, the Aces can develop the rookie into a full-court threat that will help the Aces earn another championship.
