The Las Vegas Aces are currently the WNBA team with the best momentum ahead of the Playoffs. After beating the Chicago Sky on Sunday, the Aces are on a 15-game winning streak. They have not suffered a single loss since early August.
A big part of that success has been their best player, A'ja Wilson. Against the Sky, she had another standout performance, posting 31 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Aces. That has become the standard level of performance Wilson has showcased this season.
After a slow start to the season, the Aces have recovered and have become one of the best teams in the WNBA again. They have not lost a game for over a month, which is a testament to Wilson's greatness and Becky Hammon's coaching.
The Aces franchise was dominating the WNBA back in 2023, so they want to return to that level. With Wilson as the star player, anything is possible. She has all the strengths a player would want, and she is delivering once again for Las Vegas.
In addition to her 31 points and 11 rebounds, Wilson was also dominant on the defensive side of the game. She stole the ball four times and blocked three shots. Wilson has continued to prove why she has three MVP awards under her belt.
She has a potential fourth MVP landing in her trophy case, but Napheesa Collier also has a strong argument for the award. However, they are the best players in the WNBA today, which is why they both deserve the award this season.
One person who is not surprised at all about Wilson's performance is the Aces' coach Becky Hammon. The multi-time champion coach knows that her superstar player has worked hard to earn all her accolades.
"She's the only person in the gym and in the world that's both a lion and a gazelle. She's both. She can dance around you, or she can eat you up physically and dominate you," Hammon said in her post-game presser after beating Chicago.
"The way she does it on both ends, I talk about her blocks a lot... It blows your mind sometimes. She does it on our side on the defensive end. That's so elite... She’s dominant on both ends, and it’s really special to have a front row seat to watch her."
With Wilson on top of her game this season with a record-breaking 13th 30-point game, it is evident that the Aces are on another level with her playing at this level. It will be challenging to beat them, especially when the rest of her supporting cast steps up.

The Aces are contenders again after a slow start to the season. With players like Jackie Young, Jewel Lloyd, and Chelsea Gray, Wilson has some good teammates.
It will be up to the players to step up and follow Hammon's system. If they can continue to play this way, the Minnesota Lynx have a tough opponent ahead, while the defending champions New York Liberty, could also lose their title defense bid.
