Chicago’s Commissioner's Cup hopes took another hit on Tuesday night at Wintrust Arena, as the Washington Mystics rallied from a 12‑point halftime deficit to down the Sky 79‑72.
After controlling the game for much of the first half, outscoring Washington 44‑32, the Sky watched their lead evaporate in the third quarter, allowing 47 points in the second half.
For Chicago, star forward Angel Reese again filled the stat sheet, logging her third double‑double in four games (sixth of the season) with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Yet turnovers proved Chicago’s undoing as the team committed 25 miscues to the Mystics' 16, including seven alone by Reese.
In the wake of the Sky's eighth defeat in 11 games, Reese shared a pregame photo of herself arriving at the game, captioned simply: "the real one & only BARBIE."
Reese entered the league in 2024 as the No. 7 overall pick out of LSU, already carrying national championship pedigree and a flair that ignited her “Bayou Barbie” brand.
In her rookie year, Reese led the WNBA with 13.1 rebounds per game, setting the single‑season rookie record with 446 boards and earned WNBA All‑Star and All‑Rookie honors.
This season, Reese has added new chapters to her resume.
In late May, she eclipsed Tina Charles as the fastest to 500 career points and 500 rebounds, achieving the feat in just 38 games.
Then, on Sunday, she became the fastest forward and third fastest player in league history to notch a triple‑double (11 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists).
While Reese continues to pile up impressive numbers and maintain her status as one of the WNBA’s most marketable young stars, the Sky hope to salvage its season with just three wins through the first 11 games.
