Angel Reese's Big Admission About WNBA Contract

Angel Reese's Rose Basketball Club took home the inaugural Unrivaled basketball championship on Monday night, and she was in the mood to celebrate thanks to a significant cash injection.

The Chicago Sky forward missed the final against Vinyl Basketball Club due to a hand injury, but as a member of the winning team, she earned a $50,000 bonus.

That's on top of her undisclosed salary from Unrivaled. The brand-new, 3-on-3 league made women's sports history with an average player salary of more than $200,000 and each member receiving equity in the league.

Thanks to her huge social media following and power to influence ratings, Reese likely commanded an Unrivaled salary closer to the reported $1 million offer that Caitlin Clark turned down to play in the league's first season.

Those Unrivaled figures are a far cry from her WNBA rookie salary, Reese admitted on social media after Rose's 64-52 victory in the final.

After acknowledging her five-figure bonus on X, Reese was mentioned by Indiana Fever guard Sydney Colson, who offered to help her spend the cash.

The Bayou Barbie fired back quickly, referencing her paltry WNBA contract as a reason why she needed to keep the Unrivaled money to herself.

In 2025, the WNBA All-Star will enter the second year of her rookie contract, worth an average of $81,096 per year over four seasons.

It's not the first time Reese has criticized WNBA compensation during the Unrivaled campaign. Earlier this month, she issued a warning to the WNBA about the possibility of a work stoppage at the end of the current collective bargaining agreement, set to expire after the 2025 season.

"Yeah, the CBA is coming up,” Reese said on her "Unapologetically Angel" podcast on March 7. “We deserve more. Everybody, everybody. But we have to face the consequences? The women coming in next year are probably gonna be making more than us. I gotta get in the meetings. Because I’m hearing… If y’all don’t give us what we want, we sitting out.”
