Angel Reese's Immediate Reaction to Chicago Sky Trade

Angel Reese, one of the most impactful young stars in the WNBA, is officially headed to the Atlanta Dream in a trade with the Chicago Sky, according to WNBA reporter Taylor Rooks report.

Reese’s first two seasons in Chicago were defined by elite production on the glass and All‑Star recognition, even as the Sky struggled. As a rookie in 2024, she averaged 13.6 points and a WNBA‑record 13.1 rebounds per game, setting the league’s single‑season rebounding mark and earning both All‑Star and All‑Rookie honors

In her second season, she again led the league in rebounds (12.6 per game) and improved her all‑around production with 14.7 points, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals, becoming one of the fastest players in WNBA history to reach 500 points and 500 rebounds.

Despite those numbers, Chicago finished with a joint‑worst 10-34 record last season.

Upon news of the trade, Reese took to social media for her first post as an Atlanta player: “An Angel’s DREAM ️TL WHAT UP?! @AtlantaDream.”

The news comes amid rumored tension between Reese and the Sky. The 23-year-old drew significant attention for her candid comments in an interview with the Chicago Tribune about the team’s direction, saying the Sky needed better roster construction and that the franchise had to do more to compete. That interview led to a half‑game suspension from the Sky for “detrimental” comments.

Earlier in her rookie year, Reese was also fined $1,000 by the WNBA, along with a team fine, for failing to make herself available to postgame media.

The move to Atlanta represents a fresh start for Reese and a major frontcourt addition for the Dream. The Sky, meanwhile, enter a rebuild without one of the league’s premier rebounders.
