Angel Reese’s Pass During Chicago Sky Game Draws WNBA Reaction

It’s been a trying season for the Chicago Sky, who entered Sunday’s matchup against the Minnesota Lynx with a 5‑11 record and sitting in fifth place in the Eastern Conference.

The Sky have struggled to find consistency on both ends of the floor, averaging just 78.8 points per game (12th of 13 teams) while allowing opponents to score 87.7 points (12th of 13).

Despite the team’s overall struggles, there have been bright spots, none more notable than Angel Reese.

On Sunday, the Sky jumped out to an early lead behind a balanced attack, with all five starters in the scoring column before the end of the first quarter.

Yet, it was Reese who stole the headlines again.

With just under four minutes remaining in the opening frame, the Sky forward bolted down the right side on a fast break after a Lynx miss.

Caught in heavy congestion in the paint, she calmly regathered the ball, scanned the floor and delivered a pinpoint pass to a trailing Elizabeth Williams, who rose for a soft floater that extended the Sky’s lead to 18‑6.

The WNBA shared the entire sequence shortly after.

Reese burst onto the national scene during her 2023 season at LSU, helping lead the Tigers to an NCAA championship and earning NCAA Tournament MOP, first-team All-SEC and unanimous first-team All-American.

A year later, she won SEC Player of the Year before getting selected seventh overall by the Sky in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

After arriving in Chicago, she continued to break new ground, becoming the first rookie to have a double-double in a WNBA All-Star Game and setting the all-time rookie rebounding record with 446 (13.1 per game, best in WNBA).

Leading up to Sunday's game, Reese again led the WNBA in rebounding at 12.6 per game to go along with 12.4 points, 3.8 assists and 1.8 steals.

On Sunday, the league also announced that Reese earned her second consecutive WNBA All‑Star selection as a reserve.
