Breanna Stewart, one of the co-founders of Unrivaled, has decided to rejoin the Fenerbahçe team for the EuroLeague Final Six, which will take place from April 15 to April 19. It’s important to note that the WNBA training camp is scheduled to start on April 19. Additionally, the WNBA is currently negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA), and it remains uncertain whether the WNBA season will begin on time or if there will be a lockout. The news came out on Monday that Stewart will rejoin the team, and the last time she played with Fenerbahce was back in 2023.

WNBA Fans React to Stewart Returning to EuroLeague

Many WNBA fans were shocked by Stewart’s return to Fenerbahce, especially since she co-founded an American league called Unrivaled, designed for players to remain in the States. Many questioned her decision and the timing of the announcement, particularly because the WNBA and the WNBPA are currently in negotiations for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Some fans even asked, “What is the purpose of Unrivaled if she is leaving to play in the EuroLeague?” Since it’s unknown whether the WNBA will have a 2026 season, Stewart is seizing the opportunity to earn more income for her family. If she has been given an opportunity, why not take it?

Many fans might not be aware that she can compete overseas before the “training camp” commences. ESPN reporter Alexa Philippou provides further explanation and clarification on why Breanna Stewart is allowed to play overseas for a brief period without any complications.

Some fans have suggested that this could indicate there may not be a WNBA season. This is a valid concern given the current situation; however, both sides are working diligently to ensure that does not happen.

This is an amazing opportunity for Stewart to play continuously throughout the year with Unrivaled and Fenerbahce.

Let’s revert to the most vital question: Will there be an WNBA season? Let us know what you think.

The Unrivaled games will be shown on TNT and truTV and streamed on HBO Max. Please check the schedule for times and dates.
