Britney Griner is trying to turn things around this WNBA season. Having endured a lot of stressful situations in her career, the 35-year-old star signed with the Connecticut Sun. And while she was determined to make a difference, her recent achievement brought her to the level of WNBA elites.
As the Sun faced off against the Los Angeles Sparks this Saturday, she scored a 4-foot turnaround jumper that allowed the veteran star to make history. This would be the 6000th career points for Griner, who became only the 18th WNBA player to achieve such a feat.

Thanks to her antics at the PeoplesBank Arena, the Connecticut Sun notched up their second win of the season. Despite having a sorry 2-8 record, the 84-81 win would surely boost the team’s morale significantly. Such a performance also somewhat solved the bizarre injury problem that the Sun were facing.
The star player nursed a rib injury, and the team listed her as out in their last game against the Golden State Valkyries. This was quite shocking because the team initially listed the veteran star as probable, and teams usually upgrade a player from probable to available before tipoff.
Thankfully, as the star player looks to have found her form back, head coach Rachid Meziane was all praises.
Brittney Griner returned to the Connecticut Sun lineup for the first time since the team’s opening game. Ending the game with nine points, the former Phoenix Mercury star also surpassed Lauren Jackson and Seimone Augustus to clinch the 16th position in the all-time scoring list. And looking at her surge following the injury, Meziane looked elated.
“She’s got enough points tonight to get the record, but also to win the game. So, I am happy tonight,” said Sun’s head coach.
Thus, trying to get back into the mix, the 35-year-old is showing some significant signs of progress. However, fans will be eager to find out how things pan out next.
