LAS VEGAS — Josh Hokit left UFC 324 undefeated, but it wasn’t his late stoppage victory that dominated the post-event conversation. Hokit improved to 8-0 as a professional and 2-0 in the UFC after scoring a TKO over Denzel Freeman with just one second remaining in the opening round of their heavyweight bout at UFC 324.
A former NCAA Division I All-American wrestler and Fresno State football player, Hokit has shown promise inside the cage. Outside of it, however, his post-fight interview became one of the most talked-about moments of the night for the wrong reasons.
During his live, in-cage interview, Hokit launched into a prolonged, WWE-style promo filled with rhyming boasts, insults, and inflammatory remarks. The speech aired uninterrupted and quickly circulated across social media, overshadowing the actual result of the fight.
Among the comments that drew widespread criticism were personal attacks aimed at fellow heavyweight Waldo Cortes-Acosta, as well as a disparaging remark involving WNBA star Brittney Griner. The nature of the comments prompted immediate backlash and shifted attention away from Hokit’s performance in the octagon.

UFC president Dana White addressed the situation afterward, making it clear he was not pleased.
“I didn’t,” White said when asked if he heard the interview live, “I heard about it, I didn’t see it. I don’t love it.”
White did not elaborate on whether Hokit would face disciplinary action, but his response suggested the promotion was not enthusiastic about the direction the post-fight moment took.
Inside the cage, the interview continued without intervention. Joe Rogan, working cageside commentary. Laughed during portions of the speech and referenced it again when the broadcast returned to the desk. Still, the moment quickly became one of the defining talking points of UFC 324 eclipsing a card that featured multiple high-profile bouts and championship implications.
For Hokit, the challenge now is clear. His unbeaten record and athletic background give him legitimate upside in the heavyweight division. But future opportunities may hinge on keeping the spotlight on his fighting rather than on controversial theatrics after the final bell. At UFC 324, the win counted but the words are what people remembered.
