Brittney Griner and the Atlanta Dream have officially clinched a spot in the 2025 WNBA playoffs with four regular-season games remaining. While they can’t catch the No. 1 seed held by the Minnesota Lynx, they can still finish anywhere between No. 2 and No. 6.
Griner and the Dream return to action Wednesday, looking for their third straight win as they host the Los Angeles Sparks, another team fighting for a playoff spot.
Atlanta clinched its postseason berth last week behind the strong play of guard Rhyne Howard, who helped the Dream go 2-1 over their last three games. In those contests, Howard averaged 21.5 points, 6.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks.
Howard also made WNBA history in the Dream's win over the Wings on Friday. She became the first player to record six blocks and six 3-pointers (career high) in the same game.
For her performance over the past week, the WNBA named Howard the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played from August 25-30. Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas, who helped replace Griner this year, was named the Western Conference Player of the Week as well.
"RHYNE HOWARD IS YOUR WNBA EASTERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK! ," the Dream wrote on X. "@howard_rhyne secures her first 2025 weekly award after a record-breaking performance this week."

Griner and the Dream will wrap up the regular season, starting with three games in Atlanta against the Sparks and Sun. Then, they will travel to Connecticut on Sept. 10 for the season finale.
