Before the Fever vs Valkyries game around the end of the month, many fans might have gone through the highlights of the last games. The score line didn’t completely justify how competitive the game was, as Caitlin Clark’s flurry of three pointers helped the hosts to win the game and put the opposition in check.
One ‘logo’ three went viral as Clark and Tiffany Hayes exchanged words close to the half-court line, and the timeout from coach Natalie Nakase brought cheers from the attendees. But it also reignited the narrative of a beef between CC and Hayes. Ahead of the game, the 24-year-old guard cleared the air.
“I mean, for me, you’re just a competitor, you leave it on the court, there’s not anything you carry over into the next game … I’m gonna speak for me, I don’t know about the other side. But, yeah, for me, I approach every game the same way. I don’t have any bad blood with any sort of players. I don’t have any bad blood with any sort of players in this league, like it’s just a competitive fire, that’s competitive fire,” Clark said.

The former Iowa star also had a similar ‘heated’ exchange with Angel Reese last season, and both players mentioned the competitive nature of their rivalry for the same reason. Talking about the competitive nature, when reporters checked on a possible rivalry between the Fever and the Valkyries, Natalie Nakase had a strong response.
As for Clark, she had a very decent game, scoring 16 points with six assists, and yet set a WNBA record in the game.
The Valkyries were closing on every possession as the CC failed to cross the 20-point mark for the first time in the season. She even had just six assists in the game, which was below her season average. With her third assist in the game, the 2024 rookie completed 500 assists in the league, and already had over 1000 points in the league.
Clark crossed the 1000 points and 500 assists milestone in 59 games, which is the fastest in the league, 23 games quicker than the previous record holder, Sue Bird.

Although the player will be happy with a personal accolade, she is aiming for winning games for the team, which is aiming for the championship this season.
