Caitlin Clark isn’t letting Sophie Cunningham have all the fun when it comes to fines.
The Indiana Fever superstar Clark revealed this week that she recently got fined herself by the WNBA. After the Fever won their first-round playoff series in a three-game upset over the Atlanta Dream, Clark (who is out for the season with a groin injury) reacted to the victory in an Instagram comment.
“Refs couldn’t stop us,” wrote Clark. “Elite bench mob.”

On Saturday, Clark said that she got fined $200 by the WNBA over that “refs” comment. She made the revelation in a post to her X page.
“Got fined $200 for this lol,” Clark wrote along with several laughing emojis. “BENCH MOB WILL BE EVEN MORE ROWDY TOMORROW LETS GOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! @IndianaFever”

The Fever were frustrated with the officiating throughout their first-round series against the Dream. That included Game 2 when Clark and Cunningham got visibly upset at the referees from the sideline. As such, the series victory proved very cathartic for Indiana, and Clark was one of multiple Fever players who trolled Dream fans after their decisive Game 3 win.
Indiana is now set to face the Las Vegas Aces in a semifinal series that tips off Sunday. The “bench mob” has had to step up for the Fever because of the countless season-ending injuries that the team has gotten hit with. But Clark is so fired up about their performance thus far that she is now even getting fined by the WNBA (like Cunningham has been doing for quite some time now).
