Sophie Cunningham is expected to play a key role alongside Caitlin Clark for the Indiana Fever this upcoming season.
Cunningham had an impactful first season with the Fever in 2025, which led the team to sign her to a new contract. This came out to a one-year, $665,000 deal, which will keep the 6-foot-1 guard in Indiana for at least another season.
However, Cunningham later revealed that her new contract did not meet her expectations. This led to some pushback from the fans, prompting an explanation from the outspoken veteran.
Cunningham clarified that she had no issue with the money. However, she also admitted she expected a longer deal than the one-year contract she received.
Cunningham took center stage in the team’s latest offseason promo.
On Sunday, the Fever’s media team posted a video on Instagram that featured Cunningham, Clark and a number of other players. The clip was a preview of an upcoming video that had some very special guests.
The Fever shared an update on Monday. Cunningham was the star of the show as she cuddled with five adorable puppies.
Clark caught wind of the clip and wasted no time trolling her Fever teammate.
“Muted immediately,” Clark wrote in the comments section.
Clark did not seem impressed with how Cunningham was screeching and giggling throughout the video. Her hilarious reaction says it all.
Clark, Cunningham and the rest of the Fever will be back on the court on Thursday. They will face the Dallas Wings in their second preseason matchup. It will be their first preseason game at home in front of their fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
