The Indiana Fever have hit a slump as star Caitlin Clark remains sidelined with a groin injury, putting head coach Stephanie White under some growing pressure from fans.
The Fever blew a big lead against the Washington Mystics on Friday, losing 88-84 to drop their fourth game in the last five. Clark has been out since July 15, missing the last 12 games as the Fever have slipped in the WNBA playoff standings.
After Friday's blown lead, many took aim at White for not being able to take what they see as winnable games -- even without Clark. Some urged the team to fire White.
"[Indiana Fever] at the conclusion of this year, your head coach has to go," a fan shared in a post on X . "With the amount of talent on this team, even without Caitlin Clark they should still be dominating less competitive teams."
Others suggested that Clark will need another coach to lead her to a WNBA title.
"People are gonna jump me but Stephanie White isn’t the coach to lead this Fever to a championship," one fan posted.
"Caitlin Clark will never win a championship with Stephanie white as the coach and this front office," another fan wrote in a post on X.
The Fever could have more difficulty ahead, with reporter Scott Agness sharing that Clark has a long way to go in her rehab.
"Have patience," Agness said of Clark's return when asked by a fan. "At least several more weeks."
