Cameron Brink Fires Back at Criticism About 'Schmoozing' With Celebrities Amid Injury Rehab

Since being drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks over a year ago and starting her WNBA career in one of the most lively places in the nation, Cameron Brink has certainly been enjoying her stardom.

As one of the most popular players in the league, Brink has seen her brand grow exponentially over the last year, with endorsement deals and fame becoming more and more prominent.

Unfortunately, Brink saw her rookie season with the Sparks cut short with an ACL tear, but that doesn't mean she hasn't still lived her life and enjoyed the spoils of being rich and famous in Los Angeles.

Of course, becoming a celebrity comes with some downsides. Most recently, an internet commenter got on Brink for hanging out with with celebrities and "partying" rather than rehabbing her ACL tear.

This is a narrative that Brink was not willing to let fly.

On Monday, Brink went on her Instagram story and addressed a comment that accused her of being more interested in partying than returning to the court for the Sparks.

The comment suggested that Brink "should’ve been back on the court now," and speculated, "Something tells me that if she put as much work into rehab as she puts into walking down red carpets and schmoozing, she’d be back by now."

Brink posted a screenshot of the comment to her Instagram and said that while she "usually" doesnt like to "give energy to this type of stuff," she had the "time" on Monday.

"I'm working INCREDIBLY hard every day," Brink wrote. "I would give anything to be out on the court right now. Basketball is my passion and everything to me…to say this you aren’t a real fan."

She added, "Thank you to those who understand ACLs can take a year & giving me grace. I cannot wait until I get to play again."

Brink was selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft by the Sparks, and played in 15 games, averaging 7.5 points and 2.3 blocks per game before getting injured. Earlier this month, Brink returned to on-court drills in the next step of her rehab, but she is yet to play full-contact basketball. She said earlier this month that her hope is to return at some point in a couple of months.
