The Phoenix Mercury head home with their backs against the wall while the Las Vegas Aces lead the series 2-0 after a thrilling 91-78 win on their home floor on Sunday afternoon.
Phoenix will host games 3 and 4. Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday, October 8 at 5pm PT and will air nationally on ESPN.
Game 5, if necessary, will shift back to the Michelob ULTRA Arena.
The Aces are on the hunt for the first game 3 win in franchise history. They have dropped game 3 in 2008, 2020, 2022, and 2023.
Las Vegas is averaging 87.6 points per game, 48.3% shooting from the field and shooting 37.9% from the beyond the three-point line.
After struggling in game 1, Jackie Young more than tripled her point production, scoring a game-high 32 points and shooting 60% and Young was just 2 rebounds shy of her 3rd career-high double-double.
In one quarter, Young racked up 21 points, setting a league record for most points scored in a single quarter in a WNBA Finals game.
Through 3 quarters, the 1-2 punch of A’Jack, A’ja Wilson and Jackie Young have combined for 54 points. The duo has earned the No. 2 spot in the league this season in points per game.
The Point Gawd Chelsea Gray was in rare form in game 2. She has dished out 10 assists in back-to-back finals wins.
Phoenix will continue to rely on the trio of Thomas, Copper, and Sabally. The trio combined for 55 of the Mercury’s points 78 points.
Game 4 is scheduled for Friday, October 10 at 5pm PT on ESPN.
