Chennedy Carter Sends Strong Message Amid Angel Reese, Chicago Sky's Struggles
Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

It hasn't been the best start to the 2025 WNBA season for Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky, falling to 2-4 through the first six games.

Last season, the Sky spent much of the year competing for a playoff spot, with guard Chennedy Carter leading the team in scoring at 17.5 points per game. In the offseason, Chicago replaced her with Courtney Vandersloot and Ariel Atkins, who now lead the team in scoring at 15.3 points and 12.0 points, respectively.

Despite some All-Star consideration for Carter, she has yet to sign with a WNBA team this season. Amid her ongoing free agency, Carter has taken her talents to the Mexican Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional Feminil (LNBPF), playing for the Adelitas De Chihuahua.

Carter has found success in the LNBPF, averaging a team-high 17.2 points on 48.6% shooting, 4.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. On Monday, she played in Adelitas De Chihuahua's final game of the regular season, a 78-65 win Freseras Irapuato. Now, Carter awaits the postseason.

Amid her success in the LNBPF and the Sky's struggles to start the year, Carter posted a message on Threads, eyeing the LNBPF championship with the regular season wrapping up.

"LAST GAME FOR ME BEFORE PLAYOFFS CHENNFOLKS AND CHENNDOLLS !!!" Carter wrote on Threads. "LOVE YALL ❤️ CHAMPIONSHIP HERE I COME"

Some WNBA fans responded to Carter, hoping the Sky or another WNBA team will consider signing her.

"We love you too baby... Chicago needs and messes you," one fan wrote.

"Why you ain’t in the wnba is nasty work," added another.

"Please come back to Sky," said a third.

"I wish you were back in Chicago," posted a fourth.

"Chicago need to be sending that new contract over because, the lack of offensive fire power is sad. Go and get that Chip," added a fifth.

While Carter may have had her best season in the WNBA last year, many fans remember the incident she had with Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, shouldering her to the floor away from the play. This incident led to a flagrant foul for Carter.

Meanwhile, Reese and the Sky will have a few more days off before taking on the Fever on Saturday, eyeing their third win.
