Chicago Sky Coach Issues 'Unfortunate' Statement After Loss on Wednesday

The Chicago Sky suffered their third straight defeat on Wednesday night as they fell to the league-worst Connecticut Sun, 71-62. This also marked Chicago’s 24th loss of the season, which now has it sitting on a miserable 8-24 record — just 2.0 games ahead of the 6-26 Sun, who are currently in possession of the worst record in the entire WNBA.

If the Sky don’t get their act together soon, they could very well finish this season at the bottom of the barrel.

Chicago head coach Tyler Marsh spoke to reporters after the loss. The rookie shot-caller underscored his team’s effort in mounting a comeback, which ultimately fell short.

"I thought the team rallied back, fought hard to finish it out but it was unfortunate," he said, via Sky reporter Karli Bell.

Marsh was also asked to comment on a contentious moment in the first half that saw no less than three players ejected from the game after a heated altercation. Ariel Atkins and Rebecca Allen both got hit with technical fouls and were tossed from the contest along with Sun guard Bria Hartley.

According to Marsh, the referees should have had a better hold of the game.

"It was unfortunate,” he said of the incident. “I think that things like that tend to happen when there's no control put on the game. [Allen] clearly got elbowed in the face right in front of the ref, it wasn't called and then other things ensued."

Whatever the case may be, the fact of the matter is that the Sky suffered another disappointing loss. Their next chance to make amends will be on Friday in a home game at Wintrust Arena against the Golden State Valkyries.
