Chicago Sky Coach Shares Crucial Details on Angel Reese’s Injury

The anticipation for Sunday’s rivalry showdown between the Chicago Sky and the Indiana Fever has taken a significant blow with Angel Reese potentially joining Caitlin Clark on the sidelines due to injury.

Reese was forced to sit out Chicago’s embarrassing 38-point blowout loss to the Seattle Storm on Thursday, and, as of writing, there has been no final confirmation of her playing status for Sunday’s matchup.

Tyler Marsh's Angel Reese Update

Sky head coach Tyler Marsh spoke to reporters on Saturday, and he provided a crucial update on Reese’s injury as the 6-foot-3 forward continues to rehab a lingering back issue.

"Angel's still day-to-day," Marsh said during Saturday’s team practice session. "We don't really want to push her too much with the back injury. Want to be careful with that. But she's progressing as well, so still day-to-day.

When asked about Reese’s activity in practice, Marsh confirmed that the former LSU star was limited and was not able to practice in full.

"She's getting her own individual work but no contact stuff for her today," he said.

It sounds like Reese is heading for a game-time decision, similar to her situation before the Storm game. Sky fans are hoping, however, that it’s a different end result this time around and Reese gets cleared to play against Indiana.

No Caitlin Clark for Sunday’s Big Game

Per reports, Clark has already been officially ruled out for Sunday’s clash. The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year will sit out her fourth consecutive game after re-aggravating her groin injury right before the All-Star break.

The Fever announced on Thursday that no additional damage was discovered after further medical tests on her right groin. However, there is no timetable for her return.

Unfortunately, fans will need to wait a little longer to see the next iteration of the Reese-Clark rivalry. The Fever are scheduled to host the Sky at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on August 9, and it remains to be seen if both stars will be healthy for that matchup.
