The Chicago Sky are in action on Sunday in a matchup against the hottest team in the WNBA right now. They face off against the Las Vegas Aces, who are looking to make it 14 straight wins as they chase the No. 2 seed heading into the playoffs.
The Sky, on the other hand, enter this matchup with nothing to play for. They are 10-31 on the season for the second-worst record in the entire league. Nevertheless, a win against the mighty Aces will be a morale victory for the struggling Sky as they take the honor of being the team that put an end to Las Vegas’ incredible win streak.
Chicago, however, will face the Aces without two-time All-Star Angel Reese, at least for the first half of action. This is after the team decided to punish the 23-year-old for her controversial comments about potentially leaving the Sky if her goals do not align with the team.
Reese has since apologized for her remarks, but the Sky are still benching her for the first half of Sunday’s contest.
Head coach Tyler Marsh made an important roster decisions before tip-off. The rookie coach has named Elizabeth Williams as Reese’s replacement in the starting lineup, marking the 6-foot-3 center-forward’s 14th start of the season.

Reese was also out of action in Chicago’s last game, a 97-77 blowout loss to a Caitlin Clark-less Indiana Fever team on Friday. It was rookie Maddy Westbeld who started for Reese in that one, but the former is now back on the bench for Sunday’s contest.
It is also worth noting that Sevgi Uzun has also been inserted into the starting five after Ariel Atkins was ruled out due to a back injury.
Reese is expected to play in the second half against the Aces, and the former LSU star will be looking to make an impact on the game after sitting out the first two quarters of play.
