It was a tournament to remember for Chicago Sky center Kamilla Cardoso as Brazil finished second in the recently concluded 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup in Santiago, Chile.
Brazil entered Sunday's final against the United States undefeated, but the Americans proved to be too significant a challenge for Cardoso and Co. Despite the Sky star's 19-point effort, Brazil still fell short against the Americans, who were able to bag the gold medal with a 92-84 victory.
Now that the tournament has concluded, Cardoso will be able to rejoin her team. It was confirmed on Monday, however, that the 24-year-old will not be available for Chicago's game against the Washington Mystics on Tuesday.
"Cardoso is set to miss a fourth consecutive game after concluding her run with the Brazil National Team at the FIBA AmeriCup on Sunday," read a status report from the WNBA's website.
Sky beat reporter Karli Bell added that Cardoso "will not be with the team" for Tuesday's game in Washington.
This does not come as a complete surprise, considering how the AmeriCup final was on Sunday night. It doesn't help that Chicago's road game against the Mystics is scheduled for an 11:30 a.m. ET tipoff, making it virtually impossible for Cardoso to rejoin her team and be ready to play in such a short amount of time.
It is also worth noting that Cardoso played seven games in 10 days for Brazil during the tournament, which likely means that fatigue will also be a factor in her return to action for Chicago.
Either way, her next chance to suit up would be on Wednesday night in a home game against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings.
