UNCASVILLE — Phoenix Mercury star Alyssa Thomas built a legacy in Connecticut, and later this season, her name will join many Sun greats.

When the Mercury travel to face Connecticut on Aug. 7, the franchise will honor its former superstar by raising her name into the rafters. It’s a fitting tribute for Thomas, who was the face of the organization for more than a decade.

Thomas left the Sun ahead of the 2025 season as the organization’s all-time leader in points (3,889), rebounds (2,396), assists (1,463) and steals (494). Her longevity and dominance helped transform the Sun into a perennial contender through toughness, versatility and relentlessness — redefining what a modern forward could be in the league.

But Thomas’ impact did not end in Connecticut.

Now in Phoenix, the veteran has brought that same identity, providing leadership and an all-around style that has already reshaped the franchise’s culture. Her impact in the Valley extends beyond the box score and triple-doubles, continuing as an elite rebounder, facilitator and emotional engine who elevates everyone around her.

The ceremony recognizes one of the greatest players of her generation, still adding to her legacy. While long careers often signal a move into smaller roles, Thomas continues to influence winning at the highest level.

Connecticut will honor what Thomas accomplished there, but her story continues with the Mercury as she hopes to bring a championship to Phoenix.
