The Dallas Wings officially welcomed German center Luisa Geiselsöder to the team on Sunday after her standout season in France, and now, she’s cleared to make her long-awaited WNBA debut.

Initially listed as probable on the Wings’ injury report while awaiting FIBA clearance, Geiselsöder was upgraded to available following the team’s morning shootaround Monday. The clearance comes just in time for the Wings’ home matchup against the Seattle Storm, scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT at College Park Center.

Geiselsöder, 25, was drafted by the Wings with the 21st overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft but remained overseas to continue her development. She joins the league after helping Basket Landes win France’s Ligue Féminine de Basketball (LFB) championship. Over 16 league games, she averaged 11.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.2 blocks while shooting 47.5% from the field and 35.7% from three-point range.

“She did not [practice],” Wings head coach Chris Koclanes said Sunday. “We’re excited for her to join us, though, and just coming off all sorts of momentum with that French championship. So, be excited that she’s winning. She did not practice today and gotta get some medical stuff done, and we’ll see if she’s available tomorrow or not.”

With her availability now confirmed, Geiselsöder becomes the latest piece in a restructured Dallas frontcourt that has seen significant change entering the 2025 season.

She played a pivotal role in the LFB Finals as Basket Landes rallied from a 0–1 deficit to win the title, including an 18-point performance in Game 1. Her strong two-way presence made her a consistent starter throughout the postseason.

“Excited to have the full roster here—even though we announced it—until she got through the French championship, which, congratulations to her. Big, big championship for her and her team,” Wings general manager Curt Miller said after Sunday’s practice. “But glad that she’s finally arrived and we’ll get her through medical clearance as fast as possible, FIBA clearance, and then hopefully have her available for the game.”

Miller, who has followed Geiselsöder through her international career with the German national team, highlighted her versatility and adaptability.

“She’s a really versatile post player,” he said. “What stood out to me internationally watching her and preparing for USA Basketball is that she’s an underrated defender around the rim. She can score at multiple levels. She’s talented with her back to the basket, but also can stretch it to three.”

Though excited about her potential, Miller cautioned that Geiselsöder is still working her way into rhythm after missing the entirety of training camp.

“She’s a whole training camp behind, so we know that putting her on the opening day roster is gonna take some time for her to fit in, but [we’re] excited for her potential,” he said.

Dallas had to wait until Landes’ playoff run concluded before bringing her over—a process that Miller said tested the team’s patience.

“She was in an elimination game in the quarterfinals. We had a flight booked. She advanced to the semis. She was in an elimination game in the semis, and we had a flight booked, and she advanced to the final. And then they’re down 0–1 in the championship, and then they win two consecutive games to win the championship,” Miller explained. “So there were many opportunities for Luisa to get here, and while we were disappointed she couldn’t get here earlier, we were happy with her run.”

With her FIBA clearance now finalized and medical evaluations complete, Geiselsöder is expected to be in uniform for tonight’s contest, ready to provide frontcourt depth, rebounding, and floor spacing as Dallas looks to notch its first win of the season.

The Wings (0–1) will host the Storm (0–1) at 7:00 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast nationally on NBATV and locally on KFAA.
