Allisha Gray of the Atlanta Dream missed the final two games of the 2026 WNBA semifinals against the New York Liberty due to a left hand injury sustained during Game 1. As Gray underwent a minor procedure to repair the damage, Atlanta took care of business.

Forward Angel Reese stepped up, putting up a team-high 23 points in Game 2’s 101-98 win and scoring a team-high 22 points in Game 3’s 85-83 victory to complete the sweep. As head coach Karl Smesko leads his Dream team into the 2026 WNBA Finals against the Golden State Valkyries, he and the team received a major injury update on the All-WNBA guard.

On Saturday, before tipoff for Game 1 of the WNBA Finals, ESPNW went to the social media website X to announce injury news on Gray. In the post, ESPNW announced that the No. 4 overall pick in the first round of the 2017 WNBA Draft is expected to play in Game 1. The post also noted that head coach Smesko doesn’t anticipate any minutes restrictions for the South Carolina native.

Guard Gray has been instrumental in the Dream’s success, with the 6-foot-0 guard leading the team in scoring at 19.0 points per game during the 2026 WNBA regular season.

“Allisha Gray would return from a finger injury that sidelined her in the WNBA semifinals,” ESPNW wrote on X. “Coach Karl Smesko doesn’t anticipate any restrictions for Gray as the Dream and Valkyries face off for Game 1.”
