Fever Decide Sophie Cunningham’s Final Status for Next Game Amid Caitlin Clark's Injury

The Indiana Fever are currently 2-4 on the 2025 WNBA season and have played the last two games without star guard Caitlin Clark.

Clark suffered a left quadriceps injury on May 31 in a 90-88 loss to the New York Liberty. Despite finishing the game, she was seen with a compress on her leg during a timeout.

She’s been ruled out for at least two weeks, with a re-evaluation set for June 9, leaving the Fever needing others to step up in her absence.

However, guard Sydney Colson injured her left leg in the first quarter, while guard Sophie Cunningham re-aggravated her right ankle in the fourth quarter of Friday’s 85-83 loss to the Connecticut Sun. It was the same injury that had kept Cunningham out of the first two games of the season.

On Monday, the Fever announced that not only was Clark ruled out for Tuesday’s game against the Washington Mystics, but also Cunningham. Colson was not listed on the injury report.

The news came just a day after head coach Stephanie White spoke to the media, listing both Cunningham and Colson as "day-to-day."

"I think we got good news from both of their MRIs, as good of news as you can get," White said. “And so right now, it's a day-to-day thing. We're looking forward to hopefully them returning at some point sooner rather than later, but at the same time, it's how each of them progresses in their rehab.”

Colson is expected to continue taking over the starting point guard duties in Clark's absence. As for Cunningham, Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull will take on more of the work.

The game between the Fever and the Mystics is on Tuesday, and the tip-off is at 7 p.m. ET.
