Fever star Sophie Cunningham draws praise over career decision

Sophie Cunningham rose to superstardom when she joined the Indiana Fever last season.

The 6-foot-1 guard was already a well-known name in the WNBA during her first six years in the league, but there’s no denying her fame skyrocketed after teaming up with Caitlin Clark on the Fever.

Cunningham joined the Fever to take on an enforcer role. Her veteran leadership was a significant asset for the former Phoenix Mercury standout, but she also brought some much-needed physicality to the Fever.

Last season, Cunningham became a household name overnight after an incident involving Clark. Cunningham got ejected after a hard foul on then-Connecticut Sun guard Jacy Sheldon. Many believed it was in retaliation for Sheldon’s overly physical play against Clark throughout the game.

Fever star Sophie Cunningham promotes accessible prescription drugs

Cunningham has monetized her fame by signing multiple endorsement contracts with big brands. This includes deals with the likes of Adidas, Arby’s, Ring Home Security and European Wax Center.

The 29-year-old, however, has also been selective with the brands she promotes. Recently, Cunningham made an admirable career decision by teaming up with SHARx, an organization that aims to reduce the inflated costs of prescription drugs by providing more affordable, accessible options.

Cunningham took to social media on Friday to share her latest endorsement.

“Prescription drugs cost 422% more in the US than the rest of the world. I’ve got your back and am proud to partner with SHARx to help change that,” she wrote on X.

Fans quickly heaped praise on the former Missouri Tigers star for her new brand partnership.

“I don’t believe Sophie would endorse something she didn’t believe in just for the money. You’re a great human Soph,” a comment on X read.

“Outstanding ad Sophie… Now explore why we pay 422% more darlin!” another said.

“Such a noble cause. Thank you Sophie,” a user wrote.

“You are a good human,” declared a supporter.

“Nobody like Sophie!!

” said another.

“You’re the goat

Sophie!!!” a fan posted.

In the ad, Cunningham calls out the big pharmaceutical companies that “are crippling American businesses and families” through their unjust drug prices.

“Don’t you think we’ve been taken advantage of long enough?” she asked. “Now there’s a company doing something about it. Your family shouldn’t have to choose between groceries and prescriptions. SHARx is making sure you don’t have to.

“… I’ve always been there for my teammates. Outside of basketball, I want to have an even greater impact. That’s why I chose SHARx, a dependable teammate, making the prescription game fair.”

Cunningham is putting her fame to good use, and the fans are showing their appreciation.
