FIBA Sends Strong Angel Reese Message Amid Unwanted Development

Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese has been remarkable for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup. In fact, she recently catapulted herself into the tournament’s MVP conversation, while also being in the running for Best Defensive Player.

Reese is averaging 8.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game in the FIBA World Cup. In Team USA’s 108-56 win over Hungary in the quarterfinals, she tallied nine points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.

The Dream star also produced plenty of highlight plays during the game, including a cool assist to Caitlin Clark in the third quarter.

Amid her incredible run with Team USA, FIBA put the spotlight on Reese. In a simple but powerful message, the organization also made sure to remind everyone that it won’t tolerate any disrespect toward one of the brightest young stars in the competition.

“We do not allow Angel Reese slander in this space,” FIBA wrote, along with a video showing Reese’s hustle play during Team USA’s showdown with Hungary.

FIBA’s message couldn’t have come at a better time for Reese, especially since she often gets a lot of hate online.

For what it’s worth, a recent survey by Casino.org revealed that she is the most trash-talked player in the WNBA this season.

“Angel Reese is the most targeted player in trash-talk, with 44% of fans picking at the Atlanta Dream star. That’s more than double Caitlin Clark (18%), while Sophie Cunningham (9%) rounds out the top 3,” Rhiannon O’Donohoe explained in the report.

Considering how well Reese has performed, though, she has certainly silenced her critics.
