FIBA Shares Caitlin Clark Update After Three Games

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has had an up-and-down campaign with Team USA in the FIBA World Cup so far. After making history with a 14-point, 11-assist performance in the opener against China, she scored just one point in the following game against Italy.

On Monday, Clark contributed significantly against Czechia, but she failed to match the numbers she had in the team’s showdown with China. She finished the game with nine points and seven assists, all while recording the second-best efficiency rating on the team.

Through three games in the group stage, Clark is averaging 8.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists. She leads the team in both assists and plus-minus rating (+19.3).

Despite her rather inconsistent production, however, Clark is the only member of Team USA to be in the top five in a specific statistical category in the tournament.

On Tuesday, FIBA shared a post highlighting the stat leaders for points, assists, rebounds, blocks and steals. Clark is No. 3 in assists, behind only Sevgi Uzun (8.7) of Turkiye and Julie Allemand (8.3) of Belgium.

As mentioned, no other member of Team USA made it to the top five in any of those categories.

Team USA is loaded with talent, so it’s definitely hard for anyone to stand out in terms of statistics since everyone can produce on both ends of the floor.

That being said, though, what Clark has accomplished is certainly noteworthy. It also further highlights how elite her playmaking is, something Team USA is benefiting greatly from.
