Flau’Jae Johnson Explains Why She Isn’t Friends With Angel Reese (Anymore)

You can always count on "The Breakfast Club" to kick up some old tea. On Monday, rapper and LSU Tigers star Flau'Jae Johnson made an appearance on the show and was asked about the friendship (or lack thereof) between her and Angel Reese of the WNBA's Chicago Sky.

The pair were teammates at LSU and won a national championship together in 2023; however, while Johnson and Reese still carry that camaraderie as teammates, the personal relationship has since strained.

"We not friends, but that bond, that thing that we did together, winning a national championship, you can never take that away from us," said Johnson. "Sometimes, stuff happens. You wish it happen, but it do and you just gotta grow.

"I support her and everything that she do. She killin' it in the WNBA. I be on social media, clownin' the folks that be talkin' down on her. I'm just proud of her. ... It was a lot of media and locker room stuff (that ended the friendship). Stuff that go on behind the scenes. It happens."

In May 2024, it got messy in the comment section on Instagram when Johnson's mother, Kia Brooks, accused Reese of having a GPA of less than 2.0 at LSU.

In response to receiving comments full of grammatical errors from fans, Reese's mother, Angel Webb Reese, said, "You definitely know about grammar errors when your daughter got a 2.0 or less GPA. And in fact, when writing your smart message, you didn’t capitalize, nor did you use any periods."

It appears that the two former LSU stars have yet to find a resolution to the drama that has lingered for over a year now.

Reese is having a solid season with the Sky, averaging 9.1 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game, although Chicago is just 2-5 to start the 2025 season.

Johnson is entering her senior season at LSU after the Tigers finished 31-6 last year. She averaged 18.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
